TimeClock Plus (TCP): Use Budget Code Filters

Summary

Learn how to create, save, load, and remove Budget Code Filters in TimeClock Plus (TCP) to quickly view reports and employee data for specific budget codes.

Body

Overview

Budget Code Filters allow supervisors to limit the information displayed in TimeClock Plus (TCP) to specific budget codes. Using filters makes it easier to review employee time, generate reports, and focus only on the departments or budget codes you manage.

You can create temporary filters or save frequently used filters for quick access.

Prerequisites

Before you begin, ensure you have:

  • An active Northwood Tech employee account.
  • Supervisor access to TimeClock Plus (TCP).
  • Permission to view one or more budget codes.

Before You Begin

Budget Code Filters remain active until they are disabled. While a filter is enabled, all reports and data displayed in TCP will be limited to the selected budget code(s).

💡 Tip: Save filters you use frequently to avoid selecting the same budget codes each time you generate reports.

Instructions

Create a Budget Code Filter

  1. Sign in to TimeClock Plus (TCP).
  2. In the upper-right corner, select Budget Code Filter.
  3. Click Filter.
  4. Select Select Budget Codes.
  5. Select one or more budget codes.
    • Use the Search box to locate a specific budget code.
    • Scroll through the list to browse available budget codes.
    • Select multiple budget codes if needed.
  6. Click Filter.
💡 Tip: Once a Budget Code Filter is applied, all reports and data displayed in TimeClock Plus will be limited to the selected budget code(s) until the filter is disabled.

Save a Budget Code Filter

If you plan to use the same filter again:

  1. Create your Budget Code Filter.
  2. Click Save As.
  3. Enter a name for the filter.
  4. Click Save.

Your saved filter will be available for future use.

Load a Saved Budget Code Filter

  1. Select Budget Code Filter.
  2. Click Load.
  3. Select the saved filter.
  4. Click Load.
  5. Click Filter.

The saved Budget Code Filter is now applied.

Disable a Budget Code Filter

When you no longer need the filter:

  1. Select Budget Code Filter.
  2. Click Disable.

TCP will return to displaying all available budget codes you have permission to view.

Best Practices

Follow these recommendations when using Budget Code Filters:

  • Save filters for departments or budget codes you use regularly.
  • Verify the correct filter is applied before generating reports.
  • Disable filters when you need to view all available data.
  • Use descriptive names when saving filters to make them easier to identify later.

Troubleshooting

I can't find a budget code

Use the Search box to locate the budget code.

If it still isn't available, verify you have permission to access that budget code.

My report is missing employees

A Budget Code Filter may still be active.

Review the current filter or disable it before generating the report again.

I don't see all of my data

Verify that a saved Budget Code Filter isn't limiting the information displayed.
