Overview
Northwood Tech employees use Duo Mobile for multi-factor authentication (MFA) when accessing PeopleSoft (MyNorthwoodTech). This article explains how to install the Duo Mobile app and enroll your mobile device using either an email or text message activation link.
Prerequisites
To complete this task, you'll need:
- An active Northwood Tech employee account.
- Access to PeopleSoft (MyNorthwoodTech).
- A compatible Android or iPhone mobile device.
- An enrollment email or text message from Duo.
Before You Begin
Keep the following in mind before enrolling your device:
- Install the Duo Mobile app before beginning the enrollment process.
- The enrollment link can only be used once.
- Your mobile device must have an internet connection during setup.
⚠️ Important: If you have not received your Duo enrollment email or text message, or your activation link has expired, submit a request with Talent & Culture before attempting to enroll your device.
Instructions
Download Duo Mobile (Android)
- Open the Google Play Store.
- Search for Duo Mobile.
- Verify the publisher is Cisco Systems, Inc.
- Tap Install.
Download Duo Mobile (iPhone)
- Open the App Store.
- Search for Duo Mobile.
- Verify the publisher is Duo Security LLC.
- Tap Get or Install.
Enroll Your Device Using Email
- Install the Duo Mobile app on your mobile device.
- Open the Duo enrollment email.
- Click the enrollment link.
- Click Start Setup.
- Select your device type and click Continue.
- Open the Duo Mobile app on your phone.
- Tap the + (Add) icon.
- Scan the QR code displayed on your computer screen.
- After the green check mark appears, click Continue.
- Under When I log in, select Automatically send this device a Duo Push.
- Click Finish Enrollment.
Your device is now enrolled.
Enroll Your Device Using Text Message (SMS)
- Install the Duo Mobile app on your mobile device.
- Open the Duo activation text message.
- Tap the activation link.
- If prompted, tap Open in the application.
- When prompted to name the account, tap Save for WILM.
Your device is now enrolled.
Troubleshooting
I haven't received my enrollment email or text message
Try the following:
- Check your Northwood Tech email inbox and Junk or Spam folder.
- Verify you're checking the email address or mobile phone number associated with your Northwood Tech account.
- Wait a few minutes, as delivery may be delayed.
If you still haven't received the enrollment message, submit a request with the IT Service Desk.
My activation link doesn't work
Try the following:
- Verify you're using the most recent activation email or text message.
- Remember that Duo activation links can only be used once.
- If the link has expired or has already been used, you'll need a new activation link.
If you need a new activation link, submit a request with the IT Service Desk.
Duo Mobile won't install or open
Try the following:
Verify your device has a stable internet connection.
- Install any available operating system updates.
- Update the Duo Mobile app to the latest version.
- Restart your mobile device.
- If the issue persists, uninstall and reinstall the Duo Mobile app.
I can't scan the QR code
Try the following:
- Make sure the QR code is fully visible on your computer screen.
- Increase your screen brightness to make the QR code easier to scan.
- Clean your phone's camera lens if the image appears blurry.
- Close and reopen the Duo Mobile app, then try scanning the QR code again.
If you're still unable to scan the QR code, submit a request with the IT Service Desk.
