The Microsoft Outlook app allows you to access your Northwood Tech email, calendar, and contacts from your iPhone or iPad.

This article explains how to install Microsoft Outlook, add your Northwood Tech account, and complete the sign-in process.

  • You must have an active Northwood Tech student or employee account.
  • Microsoft Outlook must be installed from the Apple App Store.
  • Your Northwood Tech email address and password are required.
  • Multi-factor authentication (MFA) must be set up and available if prompted during sign-in.
  • Microsoft Authenticator should be installed on your iPhone or iPad before adding your account.
📝 Note: If you are required to use multi-factor authentication (MFA), make sure Microsoft Authenticator is installed and configured on your device before setting up Outlook.

Prerequisites

Before you begin, you'll need:

  • An active Northwood Tech student or employee account
  • Your Northwood Tech email address
  • Your Northwood Tech password
  • Multi-factor authentication (MFA) set up and accessible
  • An iPhone or iPad with internet access
  • Access to the Apple App Store
  • Microsoft Authenticator installed if MFA is required

Instructions

Install Microsoft Outlook

  1. Open the App Store.
  2. Search for Microsoft Outlook.
  3. Tap Get or Download.
  4. Wait for the installation to complete.
💡 Tip: If you plan to use additional Microsoft 365 applications, you can also download the Microsoft 365 Productivity Apps bundle.

Add Your Northwood Tech Account

  1. Open Outlook.
  2. Tap Add Account.

     
  3. Enter your Northwood Tech Email address.
    • Student email example: jstudent1234@northwoodtech.edu 
    • Employee email example: joe.employee@northwoodtech.edu
  4. TapAdd Account.

     
  5. Enter your MyCampus password.
  6. Tap Sign in.

     
  7. Complete the MFA verification if prompted.
  8. Tap OK.
📝 Note: The sign-in process may require you to approve a notification or complete another verification step using Microsoft Authenticator.

Complete Outlook Setup

  1. Reopen Outlook.
  2. Enable Notifications. 
    • Tap Turn On to receive Outlook notifications.
    • Tap No Thanks if you do not want notifications.

Your Northwood Tech email account is now added to Outlook. You can use Outlook to send and receive email, manage your calendar, and access your contacts.

Troubleshooting

I can't download Outlook from the App Store

Try the following:

  • Verify that your iPhone or iPad is connected to Wi-Fi or cellular data.
  • Make sure you are signed in with your Apple ID.
  • Verify that your device is running a supported version of iOS or iPadOS.
  • Restart the App Store and try again.

I can't sign in to my Northwood Tech account

Try the following:

  • Verify that you're using your Northwood Tech email address.
  • Verify that your password is correct.
  • If you've recently changed your password, wait a few minutes and try again.
  • If necessary, reset your Northwood Tech password.

I never received the MFA prompt

Try the following:

  • Open Microsoft Authenticator.
  • Verify notifications are enabled for Microsoft Authenticator.
  • Make sure your device has an internet connection.
  • If prompted with a two-digit number, enter it in Microsoft Authenticator.
  • Select Sign in another way, if available.
  • Contact the IT Service Desk if you are still unable to complete MFA.

Outlook keeps asking me to sign in

Try the following:

  • Force close Outlook and reopen it.
  • Restart your iPhone or iPad.
  • Verify that you're using your Northwood Tech email address and current password.
  • Remove and re-add your Northwood Tech account if necessary.

My email isn't syncing

Try the following:

  • Pull down on the Inbox to refresh your messages.
  • Verify that you're connected to Wi-Fi or cellular data.
  • Verify that your password has not recently changed.
  • Check whether your mailbox is full.

I don't receive notifications

Try the following:

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Tap Notifications.
  3. Tap Outlook.
  4. Make sure notifications are enabled.
  5. Open Outlook and verify that notifications are enabled within the app.

Outlook is frozen or keeps crashing

Try the following:

  • Close Outlook and reopen it.
  • Restart your iPhone or iPad.
  • Update Outlook through the App Store.
  • Install any available iOS or iPadOS updates.

I replaced my iPad or got a new phone

Try the following:

  • Install Microsoft Outlook on your new device.
  • Install Microsoft Authenticator.
  • Sign in using your Northwood Tech account.
  • Complete MFA when prompted.
