Install Microsoft 365 - iPad/iPhone

Overview

This article provides step-by-step instructions for installing the Microsoft Outlook app on an iPad and configuring it with your Northwood Tech account. It covers downloading the app, signing in with your Northwood Tech credentials, and completing any required multi-factor authentication.

Once setup is complete, you will be able to access your Northwood Tech email, calendar, and contacts directly from your iPad.

Prerequisites

  • A current student taking at least 3 credits or any full time employee
  • Your Northwood Tech email address and password
  • Multi-factor authentication (MFA) set up and accessible
  • An iPad or iPhone with internet access
  • Access to the Apple App Store to download Microsoft 365 Productivity Apps and Microsoft Authenticator
  • iPadOS version supported by the current Apps

Instructions

Install

  1. Install Microsoft 365 Productivity Apps, from the App Store.

Sign In

  1. Open Word, Excel, or PowerPoint.
  2. Tap Existing Microsoft 365 Users? Sign In.

     
  3. Enter your Northwood Tech Email address.
    • Student: jstudent1234@northwoodtech.edu 
    • Employee: joe.employee@northwoodtech.edu
    Tap Next.

     
  4. Enter your Northwood Tech Password.
    Tap Sign in.

     
  5. If prompted, tap Register.

     
  6. Enable Notifications. 
    • Turn On
    • Not Now

  7. Tap OK.

     
  8. Reopen app.
  9. Signing into one of the apps gets you access to all of them.

Troubleshooting

  1. Make sure that your device is running the most current version iOS.  To check go to Settings > General > Software Update.  If there are updates, install and then try adding your account. 
  2. Make sure you are using the correct email address when signing in.  
    • Joe Student: jstudent1234@northwoodtech.edu
    • Joe Employee: joe.employee@northwoodtech.edu
  3. Try a hard restart.  
    • To hard restart an iPhone or iPad without a home button, quickly press and release Volume Up, then Volume Down, then press and hold the Side/Top button until the Apple logo appears. This safe procedure fixes frozen screens and app crashes without deleting data.
    • To hard restart an iPhone or iPad with a Home button, press and hold both the Home button and the Top (or Side) button simultaneously. Continue holding both buttons until the screen goes black and the Apple logo reappears, then release
